New bourbon for tasting in Warsaw
Russell’s Reserve 10 years old / 45% – Russell’s Reserve 10 years old bourbon was launched in 1999 to commemorate 45th Anniversary of Wild Turkey master distiller Jimmy Russell. Jimmy is a bourbon living legend, he began working at the distillery in 1954 and today holds prestigious title Master Distiller Emeritus. His son Eddie joined Wild Turkey in 1981 and currently holds the master distiller post. Father and son personally select barrels for Russell’s Reserve bottlings, always from the center of Wild Turkey’s rickhouse, which they believe is the best area for bourbon maturation. The Wild Turkey mashbill contains 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. Whiskey ages in heavily charred oak barrels (char level # 4) often called alligator char.
Nose: lots of vanilla, toffee, marzipan, caramel, buttered toast, walnuts, cinnamon, touch of mint, charred oak and fading hint of sulphur.
Palate: classic bourbon palate, toffee, vanilla, caramel, toasted rye bread, cinnamon, cloves, honey-roasted nuts and oak.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of roasted nuts, toffee, cinnamon, mint and oak.
