Machrie Moor 10 years old (Arran) Peated Lochranza Malt /46%/ – Machrie Moor is a peated version of Arran whisky distilled from malted barley of phenols’ content of 20 ppm and inspired by the tale about the warrior giant. Fingal who chained his favorite dog to a stone in a mystical peat bog called Machrie Moor, located on the west coast of the Isle of Arran. Arran Machrie Moor was introduced in 2010 and immediately became part of the core range. In 2019 Isle of Arran Distillers opened the second distillery on the island, Lagg Distillery, and moved production of peated whisky there. The original Arran Distillery is now called Lochranza Distillery. Machrie Moor 10 years old was launched in the late 2021 and comprises whisky aged in first fill American oak casks.
Nose: smoldering embers, sea breeze, malted barley, apples, pear drops, grapes, lemon peel, vanilla, white pepper, traces of forest floor and toasted oak.
Palate: slightly oily, peat smoke, honey, vanilla, apples, pears, gooseberries, lemon curd, roasted peanuts, hints of pepper and a pinch of salt.
Finish: medium long, with notes of apples, pears, honey, salted caramel, white pepper and whiffs of smoke.
