The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch #4 /54,7%/ – In December 2012 GlenDronach Distillery for the first time released NAS bottling, Cask Strength Batch # 1. Batch # 4 was launched in the spring of 2015, roughly a year before Brown-Forman, the American Company, owner of Jack Daniel’s brand, acquired the distillery. GlenDronach Cask Strength is a small batch expression, vatting of whiskies aged in ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and bottled without chill-filtration and without age statement. Many whisky drinkers consider GlenDronach Cask Strength a main contender to highly regarded Aberlour a’bunadh and Glenfarclas 105.
Nose: incredibly rich, honey, toffee, ripe plums and apricots, cappuccino, marzipan, sultanas and walnuts and just a touch of oak.
Palate: well balanced, juicy plums, baked apples, nectarines, walnuts, vanilla custard, honey, candied ginger and hints of cinnamon and cedar.
Finish: long, nutty and malty, with all components from the palate perfectly integrated.
