New Glenfarclas for tasting in Sopot

Glenfarclas 1996 (Bottled 2017) Oloroso Sherry Casks / 46% / – Glenfarclas Distillery was built in 1836 on Rechlerich Farm, close to the small town of Ballindalloch and since 1865 has been owned by the Grant family with sixth generation currently working the business. Glenfarclas annual sales crossed 800,000 bottles mark and the brand enjoys enormous loyalty among whisky drinkers. The distillery core range includes number of whiskies (no less than seven) offered with age statement and supplemented with few vintages. Glenfarclas1996 Vintage presented here comprises whiskies aged in first fill and refill ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled for the German market in March 2017 with an outrun of 12,000 bottles.

Nose: rich, raisins, almonds, cocoa powder, figs, plums, toffee, candied orange peel, nutmeg, bunch of dried herbs and sherried oak.

Palate: fruity and nutty, prunes, raisins, black cherries, roasted almonds, dark chocolate, pepper, touch of leather, notes of hay and oak.

Finish: long, with notes of raisins, prunes, hazelnuts, almonds, espresso and oak.
