Inchgower 14 years old Flora & Fauna/ 43%/ –
In he early 1980s, after great success of Classic Malts range, United Distillers (predecessor of Diageo) started promoting single malts from lesser-known distilleries. Contributors to the company vast blended whisky portfolio (Inchgower is a main component of Bell’s and Johnnie Walker brands). The bottlings became to know as Flora & Fauna series. The whisky labels depict representative of flora and fauna popular on the distillery site, in case of Inchgower it is oyster catcher. Inchgower 14 yeas old was part of the original Flora & Fauna release, sadly discontinued several years ago.
Nose: malty and grassy, with delicate herbal notes, lemon peel, pineapple, gooseberries, vanilla, hints of ginger and a whiff of sea air.
Palate: fruity and spicy, apples, grapefruits, lemon grass, vanilla, walnuts, sea salt, traces of ginger and pepper and touch of vanilla.
Finish: medium long, salty with delicate fruity and grassy notes.
