Glen Scotia 1992 Sherry Cask, Samaroli / 40% / – Unique bottling from the unique bottler. Silvano Samaroli entered whisky business in 1968 and focused on bottling exceptional single casks of single malts. Pretty often, after selecting a cask, the company transfers its content to a different type of wood to shift the style of whisky further away from any officially bottled expressions. The 1992 Glen Scotia comprises whisky aged for 22 years in first fill sherry cask no. 4. Bottled in April 2014 at 40% abv with an outrun of 600 bottles.
Nose: highest quality leather, peaches and pears, cherries in syrup, almonds, raisins, touch of sulphur, candied orange peel and polished oak.
Palate: rich and complex, dried apricots and prunes, honey roasted almonds, bitter orange marmalade, dark chocolate, subtle leathery and oaky bitterness.
Finish: long, sherried fruit, dark chocolate and oak.
