New whisky for tasting in Jastrzębia Góra
Bunnahabhain Pedro Ximénez Finish / 54,3% – Throughout the entire 20th Century Bunnahabhain Distillery produced basically for the blending industry and its single malt was barely known. Until 2005 there was just one official bottling – 12 years old. Burn Stewart Distilleries acquired the distillery from the Edrington Group in 2003 and slowly but surely has been building the brand. In 2017 the distillery range consists of almost 20 expressions including limited editions and the global sales crossed 420 000 bottles mark. Here we have another limited edition (6768 bottles), in our opinion one of the best from the distillery. The whisky distilled in March 2003 was originally aged in refill ex-sherry casks, then transferred into first fill ex-Pedro Ximénez casks for additional three years and bottled at natural strength of 54.3% abv in June 2017.
Nose: very fruity, oranges, peaches, raisins, figs, toffee, mixed nuts, milk chocolate, tobacco, hints of hay and whiffs of sea breeze.
Palate: fruity with subtle spiciness, prunes, peaches, crème brûlée, toffee, honey, buttered toast, cinnamon, dash of cocoa and touch of oak tannins.
Finish: very long, fruity sweetness balanced with salty breeze and touch of spice.
