Bunnahabhain 11 years old Discovery, Gordon & Macphail /43%/ – In the spring of 2018 family owned whisky specialist Gordon & MacPhail (founded 1895) announced cutting their whisky portfolio down from 14 whisky ranges to five. In the matter of weeks the new Discovery range was introduced, presented in color coded packaging, with each color representing a flavor profile – ‘Smoky with Peat’ presented in grey; ‘Sherry Cask Matured’ in purple and ‘Bourbon Cask Matured’ in green. Each bottle features short tasting note and either vintage or age statement. Bunnahabhain 11 years old, part of Discovery range was introduced in August 2018, and comprises whisky matured exclusively in ex-sherry casks and bottled at 43% abv.
Nose: moist leaves and hay, buttered toast, caramel, vanilla, oranges, cinnamon, cloves, touch of leather and fading hint of peat.
Palate: quite fruity, raisins, peaches, plums, orange marmalade, vanilla, chocolate-coated hazelnuts, dash of pepper and allspice.
Finish: medium, with notes of milk chocolate, orange marmalade, caramel, hazelnuts, allspice and clove.
