Linkwood 16 years old (D.1999, B.2015) Signatory Vintage / 46% – Linkwood Distillery has been producing whisky since 1821. Currently it is owned by Diageo and after recent expansion it’s distilling potential increased to 5.6 million liters of spirit per annum. About 98% of the output goes into the company vast blended whisky portfolio, mainly Johnnie Walker, White Horse, Bell’s and Haig’s. Linkwood has been enjoying great reputation among blenders and whisky brokers, who included it into top 12 single malts. Currently Diageo doesn’t offer Linkwood range, the last widely available official expression was 12 years old, part of Flora & Fauna series. The 2015 Signatory Vintage bottling, part of The Un-chillfiltered Collection, contains whisky distilled on May 17, 1999 and aged in two hogsheads (no. 6178 and 6179) for 16 years.
Nose: smooth and floral, orchard blossom, dried rose petals, hay, oranges, walnuts, breakfast cereals, hints of licorice and aniseed.
Palate: malty and fruity, apples, oranges, quince jelly, touch of vanilla, candied ginger, licorice, dash of pepper and delicate oaky notes.
Finish: medium long, malty, with notes of fruit and licorice.
