New scotch for tasting in Warsaw
The Macallan 10 years old Matured in Sherry Wood / 40% – Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid but records suggest that whisky was distilled on site two decades earlier. Macallan’s ownership changed several times in the 19th Century. In 1892 the distillery was acquired by Roderick Kemp (the owner of Talisker) who renamed it Macallan-Glenlivet. The company debuted on the London Stock Exchange in 1968 and soon the board of directors decided to mature whisky exclusively in sherry wood with emphasis on ex-Oloroso sherry butts. The bottle presented here was in our opinion filled in the late 1970s and contains 10 years old nectar aged exclusively in sherry wood.
