Octomore 5 years old, Scottish Barley, Edition: 07.2 (208 ppm) 58,5% – Every single malt lover is familiar with Octomore, the most peated whisky ever distilled. It has been produced by Bruichladdich Distillery since October 2002. The brand takes its name from Octomore Farm located near Bruichladdich. The owners of the farm, the Montgomery family, ran small distillery between 1816 and 1840 using barley grown on their farm. The Octomore whisky, as we know it, was launched in 2008. Edition 07.2 from 2015 contains 5 years old whisky distilled from barley malted to phenol specification of 208 ppm, aged in ex-bourbon casks and finished in Rhône Syrah Wine casks. Bottled at 58.5% abv exclusively for Travel Retail market.
Nose: heavy peat smoke, notes of tar and ashes, hints of citrus and red fruit, burnt toast and touch of tobacco.
Palate: combination of heavy smoke and red fruit, strawberries and red currants, dark chocolate, pepper and touch of cinnamon.
Finish: long and ashy, with notes of licorice, tobacco and red fruit.
