Glendalough 13 years old / 46% – Glendalough Irish Whiskey Limited is one of the first Irish craft distilleries, founded by five friends from Dublin and Wicklow. The company head office is about 20 km south of Dublin. The distillery makes Irish Whiskey, gin and poitín – a variety of Irish moonshine, a tipple made by Irish distillers long before the whiskey era. Glendalough 13yo Single Malt Irish Whiskey matured for 13 years in ex-bourbon aok casks, bottled with no chill-filtering, at 46% vol.
Nose: Vanilla, citrus rind, cinnamon. Some smoke, green grass and tea leaves.
Palate: Warming, with notes of dark chocolate, toffee, followed by tropical fruit and melon. Finally some cinnamon.
Finish: Long, dry, with floral and peppery notes.
